The next day Kathy raced down to the markets to buy some bits and pieces for dinner, then we met up with Les & Gaynor at the pub before going to Cibos for lunch. After lunch we went to the Conway for more drinks and lots of chats.

On the May Day holiday Matt took Pat and Harry to Llandaf and the cathedral for a walk while Kathy got a roast chicken ready for lunch. The in-laws loved the walk, despite the cold.
Matt did well with the timings, as he got everyone home just as the vegetables went on. Well done! We had a quiet afternoon at home as we'd had a busy weekend and needed the rest.
After Pat and Harry headed off on their travels the weather went colder. But not so cold as to stop us having yummy antipasti and a chianti at the Cardiff branch of Carlucci's. True, we were nearly blown away, but it was still nice. We went from there to Copa and to Pica Pica where we had yummy marinated anchovies to get us in the mood for our trip to Spain later in the month.
Matt went to Geneva
for a UN ECE-ILO joint meeting on consumer price indexes. Yes, Kathy was excited too. He was hoping it would be cancelled because of the Icelandic volcanic eruption, but no... Matt and his colleagues drove to Heathrow, 2 hours check in, 20 mins on the tarmac, 1 ½ hour flight, and 20 mins waiting for a train at the other end. Not fun after an early start. Back in Cardiff, Kathy had to put the heating back on it was so cold. And to think, this time last year we were having picnics in the park!
Matt had a duh moment on his trip. He walked in to the conference venue and saw the set-up
and the people and went 'Wow – it's just like the UN'. Um..... He needed a slap on the back of the head.
After he got back, we had lunch in Barry with Les, Gaynor, Pat and Harry, which was good fun as always.

After that finished, we headed back in to Cardiff and finished the day sitting outside the Conway with one of the bar staff, her partner and some others. It was a fun end to the day.
The weather finally got warmer towards the end of the month – just in time for us to leave for our trip to Spain. Which is the subject of another blog.
